Principal’s Message

We are excited to announce that ACA students, once again, demonstrated a lot of academic and socio-emotional growth during the 2023-24 school year. ACA is absolutely the fastest-growing school in all of East Oakland academically. ACA made great gains in both English-Language Arts and Math on our local iReady and mClass Assessments, and on the national SBAC Assessment (otherwise known as CAASPP) – more than doubling our test scores in 2024 compared to a year ago. Based upon the data, it is anticipated that the state of California will deem ACA to have “Increased Significantly” its test scores – moving up yet another level or more on the State of California’s Accountability Dashboard, which is due to be released in December 2024.

ACA’s Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten Program also made great strides in 2023-24. ACA’s Kindergarten students ranked #1 out of all Aspire Bay Area kindergarten classes in overall percentage of students performing at or above grade level in math and reading. In addition, ACA boasts that 81% of its kindergarten students, who were promoted to 1st grade in June 2024, performed at or above grade level in their basic reading skills. Official scores for all schools are not yet available to the public, however, based upon past data/trends, ACA believes 81% would be the highest percentage of students performing on grade level in reading amongst all kindergarten classes, at a public elementary school, in East Oakland.

Aspire College Academy was also the home of the highest performing 3rd grade class in the entire Aspire network in 2023-24. As you know, Aspire Public Schools is a charter school network with 36 schools state-wide and over 16,000 students. Out of all those schools and students, ACA had the highest-performing 3rd-grade class in mathematics. In English Language Arts, ACA’s 3rd graders were #1 in the region amongst 3rd-grade students. ACA’s 3rd-grade class ranked 2nd amongst all Aspire 3rd-grade classes, state-wide, in academic growth in ELA!!!!

We thank you, parents, from the bottom of our hearts for your partnership. The ACA Family appreciates every parent and/or guardian for trusting us with your child’s education!!!!!! We are so honored that you chose ACA for your child at such an important time in their development. Please spread the word about the great progress our scholars are making!!!!!

The Jaguar community is pleased with the progress our students made last school year, but we are not satisfied. We recognize that we have a lot more levels to ascend to reach our ultimate goals. In 2024-25, we have been working hard planning curriculum, programs, assemblies, and other fun activities to build upon the momentum of last year’s growth and make this school year the best for OUR children. The ACA staff and students are primed to soar into the school year. We promise to be dedicated to the pursuit of uplifting our community, building confidence in our students, and developing a culture of success on-campus – living by our Mission Statement of being… “committed to placing the needs of our students first, while preparing our scholars for a successful life, by instilling values and confidence through meaningful instruction that focuses on the development of the whole child.”

The ACA staff is committed to fostering healthy relationships with our parents.  In 2024-25, it will take parents and teachers working together to ensure OUR students reach their full potential. My goal is for Aspire College Academy to be the Crown Jewel of East Oakland. A beacon in the community. I know we have everything we need from highly skilled teachers, supportive parents, and motivated students to surpass our lofty expectations for OUR school.
