Aspire Families Advocate for Equitable Policies at 3rd Day of Action in Sacramento
On March 17 and 18, Aspire families and teammates from across all of our regions traveled to the California State Capitol in Sacramento for our 3rd Day of Action, advocating for more equitable policies that better support our scholars.
Aspire led 5 other charter management organizations, representing 47,000 students statewide, to meet with 20 state lawmakers and highlight critical policy priorities, including the need to reform California’s school funding formula.
A key focus was the current funding model that penalizes schools for student absences, disproportionately impacting schools serving marginalized communities. Families shared their stories with legislators, emphasizing the need for a fairer approach that supports all students, regardless of attendance.
Thank you to all our families and teammates who participated in this powerful day of advocacy, and special thanks to Maribel Sainez, our Director of Family Engagement & Community Advocacy, for leading this important effort. Watch the video to learn more.
