LaNitra Curtis

Dr. LaNitra Curtis is a native of Compton, CA. She graduated from Compton High and proceeded on to receive her B.A. degree in Sociology from University of California, Davis. She earned a Masters in Education in 2004 and a Doctorate in Education in 2019 from Fielding Graduate University. Dr. Curtis began her journey as an educator over 25 years ago and is excited about the years ahead.

Dr. Curtis began her teaching career in Compton Unified School District and moved on to Los Angeles Unified to help her longtime friend open a charter school. After years of success, she left Los Angeles to join the Leadership Team at Aspire Langston Hughes Academy.

In 2020, Dr. Curtis was selected to open a new secondary school for Aspire. Dr. Curtis believes that being a founding site leader is a great opportunity and she accepted the challenge with great hope for her teammates and new families. She served in several leadership roles at LHA and is happy to take all of that experience with her as she builds a strong secondary school for the South Stockton community.
