Kevin Nishi

Assistant Principal

Bio

Education is my second career, formerly a Vice President in the Banking & Finance Industry.

I am entering my 3rd year as Assistant Principal at Aspire River Oaks Charter School and year 13 with Aspire Public Schools and in Education overall (not including the two years I was a Guest Teacher trying to figure out if I want to become a teacher).

I earned my Associate Degree in Applied Science, Computer Business Administration from Heald College in 1998; my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology, Cum Laude, from University of the Pacific in 2010; my Master of Education in Educational Leadership in Administration from California State University, Stanislaus in 2018; and have completed my coursework in pursuit of my Doctor of Education degree in Transformative Action in Education at University of the Pacific.  I am considered “ABD”, All But Dissertation, and will continue my research & dissertation over the next year.

It is my pleasure to serve our diverse community through the lens of our ROCS Mission & Vision, which is meeting each student’s academic, social, and emotional needs with a balance of rigorous challenge and support.

On the personal side, I am a full-time single father of two boys—men, who are 23 and 27 this year.  I raised them on my own since they were 4 and 8 years old.  We are a Catholic family and I serve both my parish St. Luke’s in Stockton and the Roman Catholic Diocese of Stockton in multiple roles and capacities.

My purpose, in serving our ROCS community, is to lead through the lens of transparency and genuine growth mindset; always open to receiving feedback and offering my support and guidance.  I am here “roll up my sleeves”, and work side-by-side with all educational partners—teachers, staff, students, families, and community members as we, together, not only grow through pedagogy, but as human beings, social justice advocates, and change agents.
