Amber Luna Saberton

Principal

Bio

Amber Luna Saberton is a native of Stockton, CA and was the first in her family to graduate from college. She holds a BA in Liberal Studies, a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential, as well as an MA in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of the Pacific. Her family has a deep commitment to education, which led them to enroll her in a lottery for a public magnet school in Stockton. She believes that the ability to choose changed her trajectory and since has been committed to giving scholars the same opportunity for a high quality education regardless of socioeconomic status.

Before joining Aspire, Amber began her career in her neighborhood in East Stockton as a 1st grade lead teacher and a 5th grade teacher. She came to Aspire in 2011 as a founding teacher at Aspire College Academy. Amber joined Aspire Monarch Academy in 2012 as a 5th grade lead teacher and later became Dean of Students. As Dean, Amber created systems for discipline and school culture with a focus on Trauma Informed and Restorative Practices, which drastically decreased Monarch’s suspension rates and increased time that scholars were engaged in safe learning spaces. She then became Assistant Principal and Lead Assistant Principal for Elementary Schools in the Bay Area. During her time at Monarch, Amber has worked to roll out systems and structures to improve outcomes for scholars and to engage families.

Amber is passionate about all scholars receiving a high quality, rigorous education while feeling safe and learning how to advocate for themselves and their communities. Amber cares deeply about the Monarch community and knows that together, they have the ability to meet and surpass their goals. She is excited to continue the work with scholars, families, and staff in the school-wide priorities and initiatives in the coming year.
