Aspire’s First Annual Ed Symposium

In March, Aspire hosted its first “Ed Symposium” event with a focus on Pathways to Post-Secondary Success. We hope this will become an annual spring gathering of alumni, partners, experts, and supporters eager to engage on big-picture questions and ground-level implications of our work. How do we define “success” for students? What does it take to ensure educational equity for every single student? What collaborations should exist between schools, universities, and employers to ensure that there are numerous pathways for students?

Aspire convened a panel of distinguished guests who shared their personal and professional experiences on those questions and more – Adriane Gamble Armstrong (JUMA), LaShawn Routé Chatmon (National Equity Project), Pedro Noguera (UCLA), and Larry Rosenstock (High Tech High). The panel, moderated by CEO Carolyn Hack, preceded lunch table discussions in which Aspire and KIPP alumni played prominent roles in sharing their lived experiences with guests.

Aspire’s hope is for this annual event to spark dialogue, create stronger community, and inspire more urgent action among all of us.
