Shelby Schmidt

Principal

Bio

Mrs. Schmidt loves her role as principal at Aspire Port City Academy. She graduated with a BAIA from San Francisco State University, and later obtained her teaching credential from Cal State Stanislaus, and then her MA in Education Administration and Supervision through San Jose State University.  Mrs. Schmidt was the first in her family graduate from college.

Aspire Port City Academy was opened in 2007, when Mrs. Schmidt served as a founding lead teacher. Mrs. Schmidt became the principal at Aspire Port City Academy in 2009.  Mrs. Schmidt takes pride in the “family like” school environment where all members of the community are dedicated to collaborating for student success. With a strong focus on equity, Aspire Port City Academy seeks to create students who achieve at the highest possible level academically, and are well rounded educationally, and on a social emotional level.  The entire staff works to build student capacity to maneuver the social aspects of their educational journey, as well as develop the self-regulation and life skills to make positive choices while at Aspire Port City Academy and into their future. Student self-belief that they will achieve “College for Certain” is a key component of the culture within the school.

Mrs. Schmidt has four children ranging from 17 to 25 years of age.  Always wanting to learn new things, Mrs. Schmidt’s most recent endeavors include fly-fishing, propagating plants for her garden, and raising three goats.
