Mario Figueroa

Bio

Mario has worked in Education for over 13 years as an after school educator, instructional aide, physical education coach, teacher, and most recently as the Dean of Students. He started his educational career for the after school non profit organization Woodcraft Rangers, has worked for LAUSD, and is starting his 10th year with Aspire.

Mario attended the University of California, Berkeley where he received his Bachelor of Arts in Film Studies. He went on to the University of the Pacific, receiving a Master of Education with an emphasis on curriculum and instruction and his Masters in Educational Leadership and Administrative Services from the California State University, Dominguez Hills.

Mario was born and raised in South Los Angeles and owes his accomplishments to the support of his family and community. He believes that a quality education is the foundation towards empowering individuals and transforming communities. He believes every student has the right to a high quality education. Recently he has been working on supporting the development of teachers through coaching and mentoring work in order to better serve the needs of all students.
