Kevin Nishi

I am honored to serve as Principal of Aspire Arts & Sciences Academy. As I begin this new chapter, I am excited to partner with our students, families, staff, and community to build a school where every scholar is known, challenged, supported, and inspired to pursue a meaningful future.

I am entering my sixteenth year in education and with Aspire Public Schools. My journey in education began after nearly a decade in the banking and financial services industry. Before becoming principal, I spent ten years teaching fourth and fifth grade at Aspire Rosa Parks Academy and five years serving as Assistant Principal at Aspire River Oaks Charter School.

Throughout my career, I have remained grounded in the belief that students thrive when schools combine high expectations, joyful and rigorous learning, strong relationships, and meaningful partnership with families. I am passionate about creating inclusive learning environments where students grow as thinkers, creators, communicators, and problem-solvers.

I hold an Associate in Applied Science in Computer Business Administration from Heald College; a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology, cum laude, from the University of the Pacific; a Master of Education in Educational Leadership and Administration from California State University, Stanislaus; and California credentials in multiple-subject teaching and administrative services. I also completed doctoral study in Transformative Action in Education at the University of the Pacific.

As a lifelong member of the Stockton community, I value opportunities to serve beyond the school day. I currently serve as the Roman Catholic Diocese of Stockton CYO Ministry Director and as Athletic Director for St. Luke Catholic Church’s CYO program. I have also served as Chair of the Central Valley Asian American Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and as a member of the Downtown Stockton Alliance Board of Directors.

Outside of school, I am a proud father of two adult sons, both of whom are married, and a grateful grandfather. I look forward to getting to know the AASA community and working together to create a school culture grounded in belonging, opportunity, creativity, and achievement for every scholar.
