Welcome Back Scholars!
My name is Karla Herrera Lovos, and I am looking forward to working with all our middle school students, staff, and Ollin families this 2025-2026 school year. It will be my eighteenth year working in the Aspire Organization, and I have had several roles throughout the years, from being an Afterschool Educator (ASEs) to an Instructional Assistant, Tutoring, teaching dance, sign language, Arts & Crafts activities, and supporting content in reading and math.
This will be my tenth year as the Expanded Learning Afterschool Program Director, and I have had the privilege of working with students’ grades 6th-9th. It is with immense pleasure to serve our Huntington Park community, motivate, prepare our scholars academically and socially, emotionally, and work with our families to ensure a successful year. Additionally, I am thrilled to continue supporting our middle school day teachers, Afterschool Program educators, and our administrative team.
I identify with being Latina and embrace my Salvadorian and American culture. I grew up in Huntington Park and was the first to attend a university and graduate. I earned my degree from the University of Irvine with a bachelor’s degree and a minor in education. I attended Cerritos College to earn Early Childhood Development units and earned a Master’s in School Counseling from the University of La Verne. A little about myself, I enjoy taking pictures, watching 80’s movies, spending time with family and friends, travelling, being around nature, walking, swimming, dancing, drawing, and listening to music (favorite genres: Spanish music, 80’s, soft rock, and R&B). What I am most grateful for this year is my immediate family, friends, loving husband, and my son, Samuel.
If you need to contact me, please call the school at (323) 277-2901 or email me at Karla.HerreraLovos@aspirepublicschools.org.
