Joseph Swanson

Hello Families! 

I hope you are well!  My name is Joseph Swanson and I am your scholar’s art teacher. I am so excited to connect with each and every scholar on campus and in the classroom this year. 

I am a second-year teacher and am continuing my education at Teachers College of San Joaquin here in Stockton to earn my credential. To the classroom I bring a unique history that includes nearly 8 years as a police officer and 24 years as a professional artist, working in multiple mediums. My diverse background, varied life experience, and childlike curiosity for learning helped me make so many meaningful connections last school year, during a time that was new and difficult in ways for all of us.  

In spite of the challenges, all of us at AASA, we’re able to still build friendships during collaboration, strengthen our voice in small groups, learn new things each day, and most importantly feel valued and loved.  Again this year I look forward to continuing to grow, learn, and create and help strengthen each scholar’s unique and powerful expression.
