Gila Juárez

Science & Art Lead Teacher

Bio

Hello!

My name is Gila Juárez and I will be one of the first-grade teachers at Aspire Stockton Elementary while Mrs. Broussard is out. I’m excited to return to AASA this school year as your long-term substitute teacher!

I was born and raised in Modesto, CA, and am excited to be back in the Central Valley. I love being close to my very big family, all kinds of outdoor activities, and my two dogs and rabbit.

I was fortunate to have attended an Aspire campus myself before I attended the University of California at Berkeley to earn my Bachelors of Science in Molecular and Environmental Biology. While working on my Bachelors I worked part-time at several elementary schools as a K-5 literacy mentor to English language learners, and teacher’s assistant. After graduating I spent three years in the Sierra Nevada, teaching environmental science and cultural history in Yosemite National Park. Getting to teach at an outdoor school really cemented my love for working with students and pursuing a career in education, and have been a substitute teacher for the last year, while preparing to apply to graduate school.

As an educator and first-generation student, I have always strived to give young scholars a very active role in their education. I am an advocate for inclusive and diverse teaching styles, and lots of hands-on, social and emotional learning. I feel so lucky to be a part of your student’s academic journeys and am excited to get to know and support them as we start off the first grade strong!

Cheers!
