Kawika Chun

Assistant Principal of Instruction, Grades 3-8 Humanities

Bio

Kawika Chun, a Hawaii native, received his Master in the Art of Teaching from University of Southern California Rossier School of Education in 2007.  He joined Aspire Public Schools as a 5th grade teacher at Antonio Maria Lugo Academy back in 2009. Kawika began his education leadership journey by opening the Juanita Tate Campus as the founding 4th- 6th grade lead teacher at Aspire Slauson Academy.  In 2013, he took a big leap and relocated to Memphis, TN as the founding Intervention Specialist at Aspire Hanley Elementary. Two years later, he moved out of the classroom to take on the role of instructional coach at Coleman Elementary and Middle School.  He is currently in his third year serving as Coleman’s Assistant Principal of 3-8 Humanities. Kawika believes that all children deserve a high quality education and strives to be the leader that develops champion educators in every classroom.
