Bio

Born and raised in Sacramento, I was fortunate enough to have family, educators, and a community who guided and inspired me to follow the path of academic excellence, moral values, civic responsibility, and discipline. Thus, I am highly committed to doing all that I can to guide and inspire young people to do the same.

I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from Sacramento State University, a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota, completed the School Leadership Administrative Services Program with the Fortune School of Education, and the completed the Principal Residency Program at Aspire Public Schools.

I have served as a classroom teacher, Program Director, Dean of Students, Assistant Principal, and Principal. I’ve dedicated my life to providing equitable opportunities for our students, families, and communities. My mission is to level the playing field by giving all students the world-class education they deserve.

Since 2003, I have served with educators who have made a real difference in the lives of young people. I served in the Oak Park community for 12 years with St. HOPE’s Sacramento High School and Christian Brothers High School. I also cherished my experience serving students and families in Stockton, CA at Aspire Langston Hughes Academy where I forged strong and lasting relationships with my Aspire family. In these roles, I actively focused and succeeded at closing the achievement gap and partnered with organizations nation-wide to catalyze change education and social justice.

As a high school administrator, I served as the CIF CAL league president, the MVL advisory committee, and the San Joaquin Sportsmanship Committee. I worked 15 seasons as an NCAA college basketball official and have supported local youth sports and mentoring programs throughout Sacramento. I am also a proud member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.

My wife, Tashia, and I are the proud parents of two amazing sons, Nico and Solomon. Nico is currently attending Sacramento State University and Solomon will be entering college in the fall of 2020.
