There are many ways to make a difference in a student's world by volunteering at the East Palo Alto Charter School (EPACS). A major boost in any child's self esteem is by working with someone who cares about their life and their future.
Volunteer Opportunities
No matter what your time constraints may be, your help is welcomed. Even if you have only an hour a week to spare, consider investing that hour with children who have dreams of succeeding through:
- Tutoring - We're always looking for after-school tutors to help improve our students reading, writing and math scores.
- ESL Tutoring - Volunteer your time to help our students master basic English.
- Mentor a Child - Offer advice and wisdom to help guide our students through life. Simply donating an hour a week could change the future of a student's life.
- Reading to Children - Come help a child discover the joy of reading.
There are also plenty of other opportunities for you to apply your time or skills in other ways:
- Be a Chaperone - If you enjoy visiting educational places you may be interested in accompanying a class on a field trip.
- Mentor for a Day - Come visit a classroom and speak about your profession.
- Green Thumb - If you enjoy gardening and working with children or other volunteers, come help us improve our school garden while our students learn first hand about plants and vegetables. Our students enjoy eating the vegetables they have grown in our cafeteria.
- High School Advisor - Assist 8th graders with completing high school applications. Come join a growing community of "Harvard Club" volunteers that come together to assist qualified students with submitting applications to private high schools.
- Fundraising - Join our fundraising committee to raise much needed funds for our students and school. In addition, you (or your company) can donate to our 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization. See How To Donate.
